Q. How has Christie’s Education helped your career?
It helped me to understand the structure of the art market, in particular how art galleries (especially emerging art galleries) and dealer systems work. On a professional level, I gained experience dealing with colleagues and clients. I learnt to look at art in a critical way, how to analyse it and how to see it from new perspectives. I also learned about curatorial work.
Q. What was your favourite aspect about studying at Christie’s Education?
I loved the fact that we were immersed in the art world, both practical and theory part. I really loved the Modern Art Survey and Connoisseurship sections, as I love art history and the direct contact ‘hands-on‘ approach that Christie's Education offers. I think it was also very important that I had such amazing professors who contributed so much to my personal learning.
Q. Can you describe your experience at Christie’s Education in 3 words?
Enriching. Unique. Success.
Q. What did Christie’s Education help you discover about New York?
The amazing resources that the city has to offer. While I was researching for my thesis on Pedro Figari (a turn of the century Urugayan Artist) I could not believe I found the original catalogues from his first exhibition in Paris. I got the chance to look through them at the Frick Collection.
Q. What was your favourite gallery while you were studying?
Acquavella Galleries.
Q. Who were your favourite lecturers, either faculty or visiting speaker?
I have many favourites from Dr. Véronique Chagnon-Burke to Agnes Berecz. Also, and especially, Susan Aberth (Latin American Art lecturer) who I think is an amazing professor and was an amazing guide throughout my thesis.
Please note that the degree program was previously titled, Masters of Arts in the History of Art and the Art Market, when the alumn graduated.
