The art history lecture will explore how Chinese rulers throughout the dynasties, especially Ming and Qing, influenced artistic production.
The course is concluded with a handling and tour led by a Christie’s specialist, who will introduce the highlights from this auction season, sharing market and collecting insights.

Kevin has more than 17 years of broad experience in strategic business planning and client development in Asia. In his previous role as Sotheby’s Chief Executive Officer in Asia from 2006 to 2021, Kevin was responsible for the auction house’s strategic expansion in the region, particularly into Mainland China. Some of his notable achievements include organising the world’s largest exhibition of more than 100 sets of Ming Dynasty furniture from the renowned private collection of Grace Wu Bruce; the record-breaking sale of the highly important Barbara Hutton-Mdivani jadeite necklace (currently showing at the ‘Cartier and Women’ Exhibition at the Hong Kong Palace Museum) and the sale of the ‘Mesmerising Landscape’ painting by Zhang Daqian in 2022 for US$47 million, a new world record at auction. Kevin was previously a board executive director and group legal counsel of Dickson Concepts, overseeing its legal and general business affairs in the international world of luxury products. Prior to that, he was a partner in Johnson Stokes & Master, one of the largest law firms in Hong Kong, and the Chief Representative of its Beijing Office.

Li-Chun Hu is an independent art consultant specializing in Chinese ceramics and works of art. She has a background in classical music and industrial design before receiving her Master's in Art Market & Appraisals in England. Li-Chun's profession takes her to international art auctions, and she continues to give advisory services to private collectors, dealers, and auction houses around the world. Her connoisseurship, experience, and market acumen help her source the highest quality objects for a global client base. Also, as the chairlady of World Musea Forum, Li-Chun is organizing and moderating webinars, trying to bring the museums around the world closer to everyone.

Sherese Tong is Senior Specialist in the Chinese Ceramics & Works of Art Department, based in Hong Kong and Shanghai. Hong Kong-raised and US- and UK-educated, Sherese began her career at Christie’s in 2010, and joined the department in 2012. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from UCLA and a Master of Letters in Arts of China from Christie’s Education, University of Glasgow. Sherese is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
