Academic Profile
Ruth Peltason is a writer, editor, and jewelry historian. Her career spans the arts, publishing, and luxury goods businesses, where she has worked with distinguished critics, high-end collectors, leading arts organizations, auction houses, and museums. She currently runs Bespoke Books, and before that was Senior Editor, Director of Design & Style Books, at Abrams.
Ruth has written for 1stdibs, Vanity Fair, Air Mail, the Natural Diamond Council, and ASJH [American Society of Jewelry Historians]. Her books on jewelry include Elizabeth Taylor: My Love Affair with Jewelry; Set in Style: The Jewelry of Van Cleef & Arpels; David Webb: The Quintessential American Jeweler; Simply Brilliant: Artist-Jewelers of the 1960s and 1970s; Living Jewels; and Modern Jewels: Redefining Jewelry Style in the 1960s & 1970s. Her forthcoming book, The Art of David Webb: Jewelry and Culture, is being published on the occasion of the company’s 75th anniversary by Rizzoli in September 2023
