Meet the Academics:
Christiane Paul
Christiane Paul is Curator of Digital Art at the Whitney Museum of American Art and Professor in the School of Media Studies at The New School. She is the recipient of the Thoma Foundation's 2016 Arts Writing Award in Digital Art , and her books are A Companion to Digital Art (Blackwell-Wiley, May 2016); Digital Art (Thames and Hudson, 2003, 2008, 2015, 2023); Context Providers – Conditions of Meaning in Media Arts(Intellect, 2011; Chinese edition, 2012); and New Media in the White Cube and Beyond (UC Press, 2008). At the Whitney Museum she curated exhibitions including Refigured (2023), Programmed: Rules, Codes, and Choreographies in Art 1965 - 2018 (2018/19), Cory Arcangel: Pro Tools (2011) and Profiling (2007), and is responsible for artport, the museum’s portal to Internet art. Other curatorial work includes DiMoDA 4.0 Dis/Location, The Question of Intelligence (Kellen Gallery, The New School, NYC, 2020), Little Sister (is watching you, too) (Pratt Manhattan Gallery, NYC, 2015); and What Lies Beneath (Borusan Contemporary, Istanbul, 2015).
Dr. Ahmed Elgammal
Dr. Ahmed Elgammal is a professor at the Department of Computer Science and an Executive Council Faculty at the Center for Cognitive Science at Rutgers University. He is the founder and director of the Art and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at Rutgers. Dr. Elgammal research on knowledge discovery in art history, AI-art generation, and AI-based at authentication received global media attention, including several reports on the Washington Post, New York Times, CNN, NBC, CBS News, Science News, and many others. In 2016, a TV segment about his research, produced for PBS, has won an Emmy award. In 2017, he developed AICAN, an autonomous AI artist and collaborative creative partner, which was acclaimed in an Artsy editorial as “the biggest artistic achievement of the year.” AICAN art has been exhibited in several art venues in Los Angeles, Frankfurt, San Francisco, New York City and the National Museum of China. In 2021, he led the AI team that completed Beethoven’s 10th symphony, which received worldwide media coverage. Prof. Elgammal has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers, book chapters, and books in the fields of computer vision, machine learning and digital humanities He received another M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 2000 and 2002, respectively.
Sofia Crespo
Sofia Crespo is an artist working with a huge interest in biology-inspired technologies. One of her main focuses is the way organic life uses artificial mechanisms to simulate itself and evolve, this implying the idea that technologies are a biased product of the organic life that created them and not a completely separated object. Crespo looks at the similarities between techniques of AI image formation, and the way that humans express themselves creatively and cognitively recognize their world. Her work brings into question the potential of AI in artistic practice and its ability to reshape our understanding of creativity.
Andy Alekhin
Andy Alekhin is a CEO and Founder of OG.Art, Snark.Art and OG Protocol. Andy is an OG in the NFT industry. He graduated with an MBA in Marketing Strategy from the University of Chicago Booth and created several successful web3 businesses. He was behind technical and creative solutions for dozens of NFT artworks and collections created by prominent artists.
He produced various NFT art projects, working with established artists from both the traditional and crypto art worlds: Random International, Mat Collishaw, Eve Sussman, Michael Joo, Danil Krivoruchko, Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, Nancy Baker Cahill, Kendell Geers, Tommy Hartung, Duke Riley, Volkmar Klien, Cassils, and many others.
Aleksandra Artamonovskaja
Aleksandra Artamonovskaja is a London-based curator and creative producer currently leading partnerships at Joyn.xyz, the co-creation platform for web3 communities. Aleksandra has led award-winning digital art and blockchain art projects and is a prominent speaker, writer, and educator on the role of decentralized technologies in the creative industry.

Thiago Yaak
Thiago Yaak is a pioneer in Artificial Intelligence Art and is experienced in transforming complex processes into easy-to-use products for tech Companies. Based in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil, graduated in Environmental Sciences, Yaak attended the esteemed Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage; in addition to art studies, Yaak has deepened his knowledge of AI Algorithms. In the Artfield, the artist explores the relationship between nature, culture, and technology in his works.
As an entrepreneur, he is the founder of Yaak Ventures, a Venture builder focused on A.I. creative and crypto projects. Launched WEB3 projects for big brands such as Hashdex. and also responsible for the CryptoRastas NFT collection - a successful crypto art project collected by Snoop Dogg, Azealia Banks, and Preta Gil, collabs with the Grammy artist Kabaka Pyramid and Lee Perry, and last year launched a platform to drop Phygital fashion items.
Elena Zavelev
Elena Zavelev is a Co-Founder & CEO at CADAF & New Art Academy. Elena is a Web3 expert with a focus on digital art and education. She has successfully built and curated projects and products for artists, curators & collectors since 2017. Elena teaches Web3 & Art at Christie's Education and Sotheby's Institute. Her articles are published in Forbes, Observer, esp cultural magazine, Deloitte Art & Finance Report, and more. Elena is on the International Selectors Committee for The Lumen Prize and Digital Innovation in Art Award.
Marco Marchesi
Marco Marchesi is the CTO of The Fabricant. He is a computer programmer and inventor with over 20 years of experience in immersive technologies and AI. He worked in academia, big tech and production studios across Europe and the US. As CTO of The Fabricant, he is now focused on building the tools for the new generation of creatives across digital fashion and blockchain.'
Feileacan K. McCormick
Feileacan K. McCormick is a Lisbon-based generative artist & former architect. His practice focuses on ecology, nature & generative arts, with a focus on giving non-human new forms of presence & life in the digital space.
