Unsurprisingly, sight and vision play a crucial role in both the making and understanding of works of art. This course will look at how artists themselves engaged and depicted the subject of looking and seeing in their work, including pictures in which sight plays an important narrative role, images of eyes, circular and oval pictures, and works that deal with the subject of lenses. Artists whose work we will examine include Vermeer, Poussin, Reynolds and Degas.
What you will discover:
• Key insights into understanding and interpreting painting
• Knowledge of key artists and masterpieces
• Growing confidence in discussing works of art
