Overview
This is the ideal programme for anyone interested in establishing a gallery; either bricks and mortar or an online platform or for people wanting to work within the gallery sector of the art world.
Delivered over five days, by industry leaders, this course will cover subjects essential to starting a gallery such as, the space, roles within the gallery, building relationships with artists and clients, budget building, marketing and events.
Other key topics will include, logistics – moving art around, creating exhibitions –both in the physical space and online, financial transactions as well as legal and insurance frameworks.
This is an excellent follow-up course for anyone who has taken or is interested in taking part in the Negotiating the Art Market programme delivered virtually three times a year adding specific knowledge to those people interested in pursuing a gallery career.
Academic Profile
Susan Yi joined Artspace as Director of Operations in 2021. She has been deeply engaged in the contemporary art world for over a decade with experiences in both non-profit and commercial organizations, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, and the Long Beach Museum of Art, CA. Prior to joining the company, Susan represented galleries in both New York and Los Angeles, serving as a gallery director. She holds a Master’s Degree in Modern and Contemporary Art from Christie’s Education, London, and a B.A. in Art History from the University of California, Irvine.
