Overview
There is no doubt that Pablo Picasso was one of the dominant players in Western European art in the first half of the twentieth century, perhaps the dominant player. In the second half, and into our own century, his status has been subject to challenge and his influence has waned. What does Picasso mean now? This talk makes a case for his ongoing cultural significance - not despite but because of his change of fortune in the eyes of practicing artists.
