New graduates have joined Christie’s Education global alumni community

22 Mar 2019

Students of the MSc in Art, Law and Business, class of 2017-2018, gathered today in the Great Room at Christie’s in London for their graduation ceremony. Christie’s Education faculty members awarded the new graduates with a Master’s degree in the presence of their family members and friends, as well as a number of alumni currently working at Christie’s.

Dr Cecily Hennessy, Academic Director of Christie’s Education in London, said: “I know that this programme has been extremely demanding as our standards are very high, but I am fully confident that our students will all excel as they leave us to take up positions in the art world.” The recent statistics show that almost all Christie’s Education London graduates gain employment within six months of completing their studies. Christie’s Education has over 4,000 alumni globally, who can be seen in prominent positions in the art world.

One of the fresh graduates and winner of the Christie’s Education Trust Prize for outstanding contribution Emma Searle commented: “The best word to describe the fifteen months we spent studying at Christie’s Education is immersive. You completely get immersed in the fields of art, law and business.” An essential part of the degree is the range of international study trips, a rigorous professional development course, as well as integrated art world work placement.

Christie’s Education postgraduate students in London have been awarded with master’s degrees since 1997, initially validated through the University of Glasgow and now through the Open University. In September 2019, Christie’s Education will open a new master’s programme for students coming to London to pursue their career in the art world. MA Art History and Art World Practice will enable students to develop the historical knowledge and curatorial skills needed for successful careers in galleries, museums and the art market.
