Lasting success isn’t rooted in individual ambition, but in the networks we build and the culture we shape together. In celebration of International Women's Day and this year’s theme, Accelerate Action, Sara Kay, founder of POWarts, encourages us to explore how real talk, community-centred care, and collective action can create a more fulfilling, united, and healthier future for women in the arts and beyond.

In the first 15–20 minutes of this session, Sara will share insights on building communities and navigating a career in the arts, drawing from her extensive experience across museums, galleries, auction houses, and non-profits. The discussion will then open up to a 40-minute Q&A, where attendees can ask Sara for advice on specific topics.

Academic Profile

Sara Cardona Kay’s career in the art world spans more than twenty-five years and includes museum, auction house, gallery, and not-for-profit. She previously directed White Cube Gallery in London, Jan Krugier Gallery in New York, and led the Old Master Drawings department at Christie’s, New York. Kay is also the Founder and Chief Creative Officer of the Professional Organization of Women in the Arts, championing professionalism and the advancement of women in the business of fine art since 2008. Kay began her career at the museum of American Folk Art and has admired and promoted outsider art ever since.
