Overview
In partnership with The Robert Chang Art Education Charitable Foundation, Christie’s Education is delighted to present Arts of China Livestreamed Lecture Series: Chinese Art and the World, and Imperial Taste and Chinese Art.
Imperial Taste and Chinese Art, running from November 18th to 22nd, will explore the fascinating history of imperial patronage throughout dynastic China. Focusing on the personal taste and artistic achievements of five emperors from the Song, Ming and Qing dynasties, this lecture series highlights how imperial taste shaped the development of Chinese art. From the perspective of connoisseurship and the market, some of the most iconic objects in the history of Chinese imperial art will be discussed.
This lecture series is taught by renowned art historian Nixi Cura, who has for over a decade lead Chinese art studies at Christie’s Education. The eye-opening lectures offer essential knowledge of Chinese art in the context of globalization and imperial patronage. Nixi Cura brings unique insight into the history of Chinese art collecting, from the imperial courts of China and the royal palaces of Europe, to the magnificent residences and museums of America.
