Frequently Asked Questions

The online courses are offered to anyone who is over the age of 18.

Courses have different lengths. Please refer to individual course pages for more information about the length of the course you are interested in. For certificate courses, new sessions are made available to students each week of their study.  Students can submit assignments and have access to tutor contact for nine weeks after the course opens; course content remains accessible for a further six months after assignments close so that students can continue to benefit from the material. For self-directed courses, the entire programme is available for 12 weeks after enrolment to facilitate self-directed learning.

Courses are offered in English. Some courses have Chinese subtitles or voiceover. Where this is available it is highlighted in the individual course page. Please refer to the individual course for more details. The majority of courses also have closed-caption subtitles in English.

There are no formal language requirements however it will be expected of you to have a good comprehension of the language the course is delivered in.

There are no prerequisites for taking any of our online courses. Courses are structured by our expert educators to provide students with all they require to rigorously develop their understanding of the field of study.

All courses are pre-recorded. For certificate courses. the program is divided into one-week sessions. You must complete each session to progress to the next. The majority of the online courses have closed-caption subtitles in English. This can be accessed by selecting captions in the video window within the Canvas platform.

Certificate courses have optional assessments to help online students reinforce their learning. Assessments take the form of either multiple-choice questions or short essays. Self-directed courses are not assessed.
No. The online courses are not accredited and do not carry credits that can be carried over to other programmes. The purpose of our online courses is to allow students to share Christie’s Education’s unique access to the art market in a supportive learning environment. 
Students on certificate courses will receive a certificate of completion following their successful completion of all assessments on their online course.
The time commitment varies depending on the course being studied, and each course includes expected study time in its description. The commitment to study can range between two and five hours. Students who wish to study more intensively will find they are able to spend many hours a week with the course.

Should any student who has enrolled in a course find that they need to withdraw, they can do so, and in the circumstances set out below they shall be entitled to a refund.  Further detail and information on  your rights to withdraw from the courses and receive a refund, and how to exercise them, are set out in the Terms and Conditions.  

Certificate Courses

Up to 6 days following commencement of the Course: Full refund of course fee

Within 14 days of purchase of the Course: Full refund, subject to pro-rata deductions for course sessions already made available where such withdrawal is made later than 6 days from the commencement of the course.  

Self-directed Courses

Within 14 days of purchase: Full refund, less pro rata deduction for any course content accessed prior to cancellation. 

 

 
Yes, our courses can be viewed on mobile devices via the Canvas app.
For certificate courses, once you have registered and paid for your online course you will receive confirmation of your place. A week before the advertised opening date, the course will open for online orientation. At this stage you will receive the details and instructions on how to access the online course. For self-directed courses, you will be enrolled into the course and gain access to all content within one working day of registration and payment.
The online orientation will open one week before your course start date which will give you the opportunity to access the online learning environment, familiarise yourself with the system and access guides and information on how to use the platform. It will also give you the opportunity to meet your fellow classmates and communicate with your lecturer.

The online course is facilitated through a learning management system. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that they have the proper hardware and software requirements, along with access to Wi-Fi, to be able to participate in the course. The basic system requirements are as follows:

Screen Size

The online learning experience is best viewed at a minimum of 800x600, which is the average size of a notebook computer. If you want to view on a device with a smaller screen, we recommend downloading the mobile app.

Browser

Although the course should be available to all updated browsers, there have been reported issues experienced when browsing with Internet Explorer and we would recommend an alternative browser.

Along with compatibility and web standards, the portal has been carefully crafted to accommodate low bandwidth environments
