Studying with Christie’s Education online is designed with ease of use in mind. Courses are available anywhere in the world that you can connect to the internet, on a desktop, laptop, tablet or phone.
We use the platform of choice for universities around the world to host our courses: Canvas has been developed to guide you to success. The platform is intuitive to navigate and enables you not only to study at your own pace, but also to engage freely with your tutor and fellow students. Canvas streams courses directly to your web browser of choice, and does not require additional software or downloads. You can also study on your mobile device with the easy to use Canvas app.
All our online certificate courses are 100% video-based. Accompanying online courses are a variety of tutor notes, transcripts, further readings and timely links, depending on the course. Your tutor will guide you through the self-study, and assist you in learning to study online if required. You will have access to the course material for six months after your studies finish.
Courses run for five or six weeks. The Canvas platform will open for your orientation one week before the course is due to start. This gives you an opportunity to familiarise yourself with the platform, meet your tutor, and get to know your fellow students. Once the course opens, new modules are opened on a weekly basis, you have nine weeks from the opening of the first session to interact with your tutor and complete your optional assignments; the course material will remain available to you for a further six months after your formal studies finish to give you the opportunity to study in greater depth or to refresh your learning.
You are in complete control of your online studies. Video lectures allow you to pause and re-watch any part of the course, and you can contact your tutor at any point for further clarification. Being able to learn at your own pace, repeating material as required, gives you the control you require to succeed in your learning goals.
Assessments are optional, and can take the form of short written assignments or quizzes. Assessments are set weekly, and you have one week to complete them.
We provide the resources required to help you meet your objectives. In order to get the most out of your learning experience, you should be prepared to give sufficient time to your online studies. Students often watch their lectures three or more times in their entirety to ensure they have retained the material, and you should be prepared to return to the course multiple times a week.
The most important aspect of self-motivated study is the willingness to ask for help. Your tutor and the Christie’s Education team are available to guide you in your understanding of the course material, and also to assist in enabling you to learn the technologies required to study online.
