Finalists Announced in the Designed for Business Student Competition

12 Nov 2018

The fifteen finalists in the ‘Designed for Business’ student competition have been announced across five categories: Interior Design, Interior Decoration, Fashion, Art & Design and Product Design. The competition organised by The Society of British and International Design and BE OPEN, the humanitarian think tank, showcases and nurtures young talented students, and connects them with prestigious industry experts, providing inspiration through their differing routes to business.

Having been part of the jury, Jane Hay, the International Managing Director of Christie’s Education, helped to identify these emerging talents, together with fifteen other professionals from companies including Amazon UK, John Lewis, HG Designworks and VitrA.

‘I welcome every opportunity to support young creatives. I was impressed by the dynamism of the entrants and their ability to connect deeply and creatively with topical issues and to use their talents to communicate ideas in ways that could have real commercial potential,’ commented Jane.

Jane shared her opinion on curating creative careers, which you can read here.

The overall winner will be announced at the House of Commons in London on 29th November and will leave with a cash prize of £30,000. The five runners up from each category will receive £1,000, plus recognition for their university.
