Christie’s Education Launches its First-Ever Course in Los Angeles

Major artworks from the Barney A. Ebsworth Collection, widely recognized as the most important privately-held collection of 20th Century American Art, will arrive in Christie’s Los Angeles today. To complement the tour, Christie’s Education will host an exclusive one-day course taking place on October 25.  

Up Close and Personal: Masterpieces of Post-War and Contemporary Art presents a unique and rare opportunity to see seminal works by Jackson Pollock and Edward Hopper. Also on tour will be David Hockney’s masterpiece Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures). The course provides an opportunity to develop an understanding of the cultural significance and context of the artists and artworks that sell at the top of the Post-War and Contemporary art market. The course, led by our art specialists, will be held in Christie’s superb West Coast flagship space in Beverly Hills, where the exhibition is open through October 27.

An American Place: The Barney A. Ebsworth Collection which will be featured during 20th Century Week at Christie’s New York offers over 90 artworks to be sold during a dedicated evening and day sale on November 13 and 14 respectively, and is expected to realize in excess of $300 million.
