Christie’s Education has Expanded its Global Portfolio of Programmes

29 Jul 2019

With over 100 art world courses starting from this September, Christie’s Education will meet the increasing demand for art education and enhance the learning experience for students.

Higher Education Programmes
In the new academic year starting in September, the London campus will welcome students on the MA Art History and Art World Practice for the first time. The new programme, complementing the existing higher education portfolio in New York and London, will enable students to develop the historical knowledge and curatorial skills required for successful careers in the art world.

Continuing Education Courses
To remain current in the ever-evolving art world, Christie’s Education has expanded its continuing education programme to include a new series of art and tech courses. Beginning this year and throughout 2020, courses on digital art, new media art, blockchain, augmented and virtual reality will be offered in London and New York.

Coinciding with Christie’s exceptional jewellery sales, a new range of bespoke jewellery courses will offer students the exclusive opportunity to explore lots from Christie’s auction programme with world-renowned jewellery historian Vanessa Cron. Christie’s Education global luxury tour of courses will start in Hong Kong this September, moving to London in November, and concluding in New York in December.

Art business education is an integral part of Christie’s Education where it has been central to the continuing education programme for more than ten years, providing current and relevant insight into the workings of the art world. For the new academic year, Christie’s Education has refreshed its art business options, allowing students to choose from a wide selection of courses; from certificate programmes, short courses, summer schools and online courses.

In line with the growing Asian contemporary art market, Christie’s Education is offering a wider range of courses specialising in the major collecting categories of Japanese, Korean and Chinese art. In November 2020, the first international academic conference in Asia 'The Chinese Art Market' will take place in Hong Kong in parallel with Christie’s Asia Week sales. The conference will explore the global impact of the Chinese art ecosystem from both historical and current perspectives.

Online Learning
Christie’s Education offers a unique art world online learning experience. Every course is produced with stimulating video-based content to provide students with an immersive experience wherever they may be located, making these programmes stand out in the marketplace for online learning. With the introduction of two new online programmes, including a course on watches later this year, the current portfolio will increase to seven courses offered in English, with selected courses also available in Chinese. In June a new self-directed learning option was introduced for Inside the Global Contemporary Art World, giving students greater flexibility to study at their own pace with the opportunity to enrol on the course anytime throughout the year.
