Overview
Join Christie's Education in an exploration of the diversity and influence of Islamic Art from its origins in the 7th Century to the present day. This week-long programme transports us across the Middle East, Turkey and North Africa and will lead participants through various topics including the art of calligraphy, architecture, exquisite luxury objects, textiles and carpets as well the history of trade and collecting in this field.
Each day will offer a lecture by academics and Christie’s art specialists on the development of modern and contemporary art in the different regions. These sessions will include handling sessions and insider knowledge about the Islamic Art Market and the key determinants of value for these highly desirable objects. In the afternoons, bespoke, guided excursions will allow participants to view some of London’s best Islamic art collections in museums and galleries.
